The Winner of the prestigious Hey You Kids Get Off My Lawn Contest is…drum roll please…..Grassy Cow and Goats

I know that many people would not see “GrassyCOw” as a likely choice for First Place, but I’m totally enchanted by this gloriously bizarre interpretation of such a simple phrase. No, I don’t know why the cow stands on a harmonica, has business suit arms in boxing gloves as horns, or has a grass hide.

I just love that it “is”.

The arms make me think of the old man on the porch shaking his fist in a threatening manner, they made Mr. Pfoinkle think of an old habit of putting ball tips on horns to keep them from being so dangerous. Both interpretations work nicely and yet, mean so little for a surrealist image.

I find the fact that the “kids” aren’t grazing on the grass (which would have been the obvious(?) choice), but rather see-sawing, or “playing”, on the grass is both compelling and amusing — for the act of “playing” is the very reason human kids usually end up on grass that is not their own.

I wish that the “kids” and the see-saw board were of the same style (photo-realistic) as the cow, arms, and harmonica, but I don’t know if the “clip art” look was “artist’s choice” or “can’t find the right ‘kids’ picture in the limited time period”.

Overall, I just fell in love with this design — and, as Casey’s rule for my judging was a simple “pick your favorite”, this is the winner. Congrats to the designer, you’re just a little bit twisted.

Graphically beautiful — one of the best — and another one who took the design challenge and made the perfect design for their existing shop.  And given I grew up in a family who maintained a wide array of bird feeders, I so get the message (my family finally gave up on trying to dissuade the squirrels and gave them their own line of feeders). IMO, another sellable design.

OMG!  It’s a Pfoinkle Portrait.  People who hang out at podforyou.com will recognize this one as a brilliant modification of the forum “smilie” that is my namesake.  And it has my pink bow. <3 I’m so buying something with this design (but not the thong, the thong is just wrong on so very many levels ).

I wouldn’t have come up with this idea in a gazillion years and I think it’s absolutely fabulous. Very smart design that takes a silly contest and turns into a thought-provoking message. Mr. Pfoinkle really liked this one.

har! America’s favorite grouchy old man.  Very nice handling of the McCain image in green and good font choice — the overall design completely supports/conveys the message.

Super nice work in creating a shirt that not only fits the contest, but fits the existing shop theme like a glove. One of my faves on the “Surprise Me” Meter and I think it’s one of the sellable shirts.
